Bus ridership in the country’s capital region saw high figures in the past year.
In the press statement issued by the Department of Transportation (DOTr), it reported an increase in the ridership of the EDSA Busway during the entirety of 2025.
During that year, 66,669,287 passengers used the bus lane that stretches from the Parañaque Integrated Terminal Exchange (PITX) to Monumento in Caloocan City. It is 5.7% higher than the 63,022,953 passengers logged in 2024.
Furthermore, it saw a record monthly ridership of 6,530,415 passengers in December 2025, with a single-day peak of 321,186 commuters in April 2025.
With the high ridership, Transportation Secretary Giovanni Lopez said the DOTr will continue its efforts to modernize the EDSA busway for the benefit of the commuters.
PITX’S HOLIDAY RECORDS
Meanwhile, in PITX, the intermodal terminal facility saw an uptick too.
The DOTr revealed that the total foot traffic for the full year of 2025 reached 60,281,330, a 14.47% increase to the 51,557,965 that passed through PITX in 2024.
In December 2025 alone, it served 5,692,840 passengers, with 3,431,341 of those being recorded during the Christmas and New Year holiday period.
Aside from buses, the terminal also has bays for jeepneys, taxis, and a direct link to the Asia World-PITX station of the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 1.
