Just before the year comes to a close, TV5 and its affiliate satellite television operator Cignal TV officially launched on Tuesday, December 30, a new station.
Called the Kapatid Channel, it will operate 24 hours and seven days a week and will feature the network’s live news and entertainment programs, including Gud Morning Kapatid, Eat Bulaga, Una sa Lahat, Frontline Pilipinas, Vibe Up, and Vibe Nights.
Viewers can also catch up on shows like From Helen’s Kitchen, Niña Niño, Face to Face, and more.
Complementing these productions are those that air from Cignal’s own TV channels, such as One News, One PH, BuKo, and Sari-Sari Channel.
The Kapatid Channel is available on Cignal’s channel 15 and is available to all to all active Cignal Postpaid and Prepaid subscribers.
The newly-launched station shares its name with the international channel of the Mediaquest group, which was originally launched in 2011 as Kapatid TV5.
That network, at present, also carries the same programming mix as the local station, although a slight variation allows sports and other shows intended for global audiences.
Although, the nearest counterpart to the Kapatid Channel is the Kapatid Livestream, which was upgraded to a full-day broadcast to stream most of TV5’s programming on YouTube earlier this year.
