In a report by BBC News on October 11, it revealed that Paramount Skydance, the major American media conglomerate that owns MTV among other brands, is pulling the plug on the specialty music channels.

Affected by the said move are MTV Music, MTV 80s, MTV 90s, Club MTV and MTV Live, which the Beeb said will stop broadcasting after December 31, 2025, marking the end of an era for the network that was formerly known as Music Television.

Kapamilya Channel to air on ALLTV starting January 2; ABS-CBN settles obligations with TV5 (December 17, 2025)

In a statement on Wednesday, December 17, ABS-CBN Corporation announced another major shake-up, not only for the company, but for Philippine television.

This, as the media giant announced the inking of its licensing agreement with Advanced Media Broadcasting System (AMBS), which owns the free-to-air station ALLTV.

According to ABS-CBN, the frequency operated by Manny Villar will begin broadcasting the Kapamilya Channel, which is currently exclusive to pay TV subscribers at the moment, starting January 2, 2026.

The announcement comes weeks after it was revealed that its current television partner, TV5, decided to terminate its supposed five-year-deal with ABS-CBN effective on the same date.

According to the Kapamilya network, it has since settled its financial obligations with TV5, an amount which it did not disclose.
