Francis Ceccarelli to represent the Philippines at 2026 Winter Olympics

Filipino-Italian alpine skier is now in the middle of his preparations for what would be one of his biggest stints in his athletic career.

The 22-year-old, who was born in Quezon City and was brought to Italy after being adopted by his parents at the age of eight, will be raising the Philippine flag at the upcoming 2026 Milano Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

He will be the fifth athlete to compete for the Philippines in the said sport, a notable feat considering the country has no winter season.

Although he is no stranger to proudly carrying the country on the global stage, as he has been representing it since 2023 and the recent Asian Winter Games in Harbin, China.

In preparation for his Winter Olympics stint, he is now training in Chile.

Aside from him, previous representatives of the country include Asa Miller in 2022 for the same sport and Michael Martinez in 2014, who compete in figure skating.
