Through a statement issued on its social media platforms, the Filipina pop group MNL48 announced an upcoming major change.

The management continued, “We would like to inform you that MNL48 plans to change both its operating company name and group name in January 2026.“
MNL48 noted that this decision was made as part of their efforts to “move forward into a new chapter, while cherishing the history, experiences, and strong bonds we have built together with our fans over the years.”
The company assured that the “spirit of MNL48 and the dedication of its members will remain unchanged.”
Details regarding the new group name and future developments will be announced at a later date, it added.

MNL48 was launched as a sister group of AKB48 from Japan, JKT48 in Indonesia, and BKK48 in Thailand after the original line-up, composed of 48 members, was formed through a segment on the noontime variety show It’s Showtime.
