More than a decade since the heated noontime television war.
During the Laro-Laro Pik segment on ABS-CBN’s variety program It’s Showtime, contestant Nekie shared how huge of fan she is of the show.
The player recalled that at the height of the AlDub phenomenon on rival program Eat Bulaga, which starred the tandem of Alden Richards and Maine Mendoza, she was the only one left watching the Kapamilya show in their household.
Na-left-out ako… Wala nang AlDub,” Nekie remembered fighting with her family members to take hold of the remote conrol.
This led to Vice also reminiscing the events that occurred over a decade ago, which she had previously publicly stated as a moment that rocked It’s Showtime to its core.
“Diyos ko, dati talaga ‘no? Hirap na hirap tayo!“, with the co-hosts Vhong Navarro and Anne Curtis also adding their own recollections.
The comedian shared that at one point, the entire team had to mount the show without sleep as they would do brainstorming in her home once the live show ended for that day.
“Walang tulugan. Matatapos ang show, didiretso sa bahay ko, walang matutulog, lahat from my house diretso sa Showtime, hindi natutulog, kung ano-ano ang iniisip natin doon at binubuo,” Vice said.
Despite that, the TV host said thanks to the AlDub era, which she said was what strengthened It’s Showtime.
“It’s a death-defying competition, muntik muntik na ngang mamatay—pero maraming salamat.
The Kapamilya superstar continued by saying that AlDub‘s goal was just the same as Showtime’s, which is to make people happy.
Vhong then shared that it was because of that phenomenon that the long-running singing competition Tawag Ng Tanghalan was reborn.
Meanwhile, on the third day of the MagPaskoSikat week-long 16th anniversary special, hosts Vhong Navarro, Jhong Hilario, Kim Chiu, Jackie Gonzaga, MC and Lassy, and Ion Perez danced alongside the a number of dance groups, led by the Sexbomb Girls, Streetboys, A-Team, Dance Royalties, Femme MNL, Baby Dolls, and SFC Lahing Kayumanggi.
