The noontime show continues to make “madlang people” happy with their pair of new portions.
Last Monday, June 30, ABS-CBN’s popular noontime variety program ‘It’s Showtime’ officially launched their newest treat for their loyal audiences, the comedic ‘Breaking Muse’ segment.
In the portion, two barangays will be competing head-on in two aspects: cheering and their own muses.
For the best in cheer, the “hakot” or folks from the village of the contestant will get PHP1,000 each.
As for their muses, who are breaking the stereotypical mold of beauty seen on television, they will have to contend for the title with their wit, charm, confidence, and talent.
The day after that, on July 1, the gender was switched for the ‘Escort Of Appeals,’ which features men with outstanding appeal and the same pre-conditions as the muses.
By the end of the week, on Friday, July 4, ‘Showtime’ held the first weekly finals for the segment and tapped the two winners each of ‘Breaking Muses’ and ‘Escort Of Appeals’ to return for their chance to make it to the grand finals.
Contestants indeed brought their A-game, with viral contestant Verna Tuliao gaining attention with her ceiling-high rendition of Sia’s ‘Chandelier,’ where she became an actual light fixture dangling in the air while performing the song.
In another twist, a Miss Q&A-like face-off round tests the quick-thinking of the contestants as they try to make a point about mundane stuff, such ad spaghetti or pancit for the muses and who between a person with gate or terrace is actually richer?
Armed with their powerful presence, unique performances, and interesting ideas, all four contestants that day were named winners and will be returning for the grand finals.
With the launch of these segments, ‘It’s Showtime’ also implemented a new set-up, with ‘Step In The Name Of Love’ having been reduced to a tri-weekly segment, alternating with ‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan’.
