The commission regarded this as a “record-breaking” achievement.

In its statement on Friday, May 16, the Commission on Elections reported that it has recorded the highest voter turnout for any midterm election in history last Monday, May 12.

As per the statistics provided, the combined number of active registered voters, including local absentee and overseas voters, was 69,673,653.

Of which, 57,350,968 cast their ballots, or 82.20 per cent of the eligible population.

It ranks also second to the highest turnout in Philippine elections history, the 2022 Presidential polls where 84.10% (or about 55 million) of the overall 65 million registered individuals went to the polling stations to give their mandate to new officials.

In its statement, the COMELEC thanked the millions that helped keep the 2025 elections peaceful in many parts of the country: the teachers, policemen, armed forces, and treasurers.

It also expressed gratitude to its partners like the Parish Pastoral Council for Responsible Voting (PPCRV), the Legal Network for Truthful Elections (LENTE), National Citizens’ Movement for Free Elections (NAMFREL), the medka, and social media platforms.

Maraming salamat po sa inyo! Dahil po sa inyong lahat, naging matagumpay ang 2025 National and Local Elections,” the commission ended its statement.
