The 20th anniversary special of the country’s longest-running reality program is coming to our screens very soon.
In an announcement on Monday, February 10, ABS-CBN Studios and GMA jointly announced the official launch date for ‘Pinoy Big Brother Celebrity Edition Collab.’
As per the Kapamilya and Kapuso networks, the new ‘PBB’ installment will premiere on Sunday, March 9, with the time slot for that episode and its succeeding broadcasts yet to be revealed.
Previously, on February 9, it was officially confirmed that ‘Kapuso It Girl’ Gabbi Garcia will be joining Bianca Gonzalez-Intal and Robi Domingo as the show’s new co-host — becoming the first GMA contract star to do so.
‘PBB Celebrity Edition Collab,’ the 18th season in the local franchise, will see Star Magic artists and Sparkle talents live under one roof for, as per unconfirmed circulating reports, 100 days.
This is also being held in celebration of the show’s 20th anniversary this year, as well as the fourth joint project between ABS-CBN and GMA.
Their partnership began with the series ‘Unbreak My Heart’ in May 2023, which also starred Gabbi Garcia, alongside Jodi Sta. Maria, Joshua Garcia, and Richard Yap.
That was soon followed by ‘It’s Showtime’ on the network’s secondary channel GTV in July 2023, before it was added to the flagship GMA channel in April 2024.
Last November, their third project, which also happened to be their first collaboration film, ‘Hello, Love, Again’ starring Kathryn Bernardo and Alden Richards was released.
‘Pinoy Big Brother’ launched in 2005 amidst the reality and game show frenzy that swept the nation.
After the success of the first “regular” series, the program had various editions exclusive to a particular group, such as ‘Celebrity’ and ‘Teens.’
The last all-celebrity edition was held in 2007, where Ruben Gonzaga emerged as the Big Winner.
In the past decade, ‘PBB’ opted to have fused editions have since been fused into one — a practice that began with ‘All In’ in 2014, followed by ‘737’ in 2015, ‘Lucky 7’ in 2016, and ‘Kumunity’ in 2021.
