This kicks off the Korean star’s new era.

On Saturday, January 25, K-pop star Jennie Kim, member of the popular girl group BLACKPINK, released a surprise for her fans.

She dropped the music video for her new single ‘Zen,’ which is a track from her upcoming first studio album ‘Ruby’ that will be released in March 2025.

As of writing, the video uploaded onto YouTube has garnered over 9.3 million views more than 24 hours after it was posted.

Previously, Jennie confirmed that ‘Ruby’ will be released on March 7, with tracks featuring Childish Gambino, Dua Lipa, Doechii, Dominic Fike, FKJ, and Kali Uchis.

Jennie debuted in 2016 as part of the third-generation K-pop group Blackpink, along with fellow members Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa.

They became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs ‘Whistle,’ ‘Boombayah,’ ‘Playing with Fire,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ and ‘Shut Down,’ among many others.

Late December 2023, she formally launched her own agency OddAtelier — the new company that would oversee her solo career.

At present, all four members have individually established their own labels for their solo projects.

In October 2024, Jennie dropped the single ‘Mantra,’ her first under American music label Columbia Records.

Meanwhile, the team’s original label, YG Entertainment, will remain as the parent studio for their group activities moving forward and in fact, will be promoting as a four-piece group anew in 2025.
