On Wednesday, December 11 (Manila time), Sofronio Vasquez was officially declared winner of the 26th season of reality-singing competition ‘The Voice US,’ the American franchise of the global format.
In the finale episode, Vasquez sang his rendition of the song ‘A Million Dreams’ from the soundtrack of the 2016 film ‘The Greatest Showman,’ and delivered his version of Sia’s ‘Unstoppable.’
By the end of the competition, he was able to best his fellow Top 5 contestants, led by his teammate under Michael Bublé’s group, Shye, who finished in second place.
Sydney Sterlace was the third placer, followed by Danny Joseph in fourth place, and Jeremy Beloate in fifth.
Aside from taking the grand prize of US$100,000 and a recording contract, So also had the moment of sharing the stage with his coach, Michael Bublé, for their duet of ‘Who’s Lovin’ You’ by The Miracles.
Prior to competing in ‘The Voice,’ Vasquez joined the second season of ‘Tawag Ng Tanghalan’ on noontime variety show ‘It’s Showtime,’ where he ended his journey in the semifinals that year.
He later returned on the ‘TNT’ stage for the special ‘All-Star Grand Resbak’ special season in 2019.
