On Wednesday, December 11, the first division of the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) issued its decision on the disqualification case filed against incumbent Marikina City Mayor Marcy Teodoro, who is pursuing a seat in the House of Representatives in the upcoming 2025 elections.
The division granted the petition to cancel the Certificate of Candidacy (COC) filed by outgoing Senator Koko Pimentel and another candidate.
This, as they found Teodoro to have committed “material misrepresentation” as he filed to run for Congressman in the first disctrict, but “did not meet the minimum residency requirment.”
After previously serving as the representative of the first district of Marikina in 2007, Mayor Teodoro moved out of his former address to live in the second district of the city.
