After a decade, the Korean pop group has reunited with Filipino Blackjacks as a complete team.
Over the weekend of Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17, second-generation K-pop quartet 2NE1 held their sold-out two-night ‘Welcome Back’ concert at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.
Members Bom, Dara, CL, and Minzy relived the past and performed their iconic songs like ‘Fire,’ ‘I Don’t Care,’ ‘Go Away,’ ‘I Am The Best,’ ‘I Love You,’ and ‘Come Back Home,’ among others.
During the final ment of the first show on Saturday, Dara was given a surprise birthday greeting by her fellow members and all the Blackjacks present inside the arena.
After which, Dara and Minzy treated the fans with their dance cover of the phenomenal P-pop hit song of 2024, ‘Pantropiko’ by BINI.
But during the first night, Bom missed several performances, with it having been explained as a result of a wardrobe malfunction.
However, on the second night, the 40-year-old K-pop star had been unable to finish the concert as she had to leave midway.
In a statement issued by the band’s label YG Entertainment through concert producer Live Nation Philippines, it said that Bom “was unable to complete her performance due to health-related issues.”
“Despite receiving emergency medical attention on-site, her condition did not improve, and unfortunately, she was unable to return to the stage,” the agency added before expressing their apologies to “everyone who had been waiting for this concert.”
YG also committed that they “will do… utmost to ensure our artist’s recovery as we fully understand the concern of the fans.”
The ‘Welcome Back’ tour is the group’s celebration for the 15th anniversary of their 2009 debut, which kicked-off in South Korea and will also be held in Japan, Jakarta, Hong Kong, Singapore, Bangkok, and Taipei.
It also marks the group’s return to the Philippines as a complete four-member team 10 years after they last took the stage together during their ‘All Or Nothing’ concert in May 2014.
