The song that became the dance craze and the ‘National Summer Anthem’ of the year.
On November 17, 2023, Filipina pop group BINI dropped their single titled ‘Pantropiko,’ which despite of it being released during the dry and cold months of the year, features an overall vibe apt for the summer season.
In January 2024, a first surge in the song’s listenership was noticed, with it becoming part of the Viral Songs chart of music streaming platform Spotify.
It then led on to a much bigger wave in February, which also saw ‘Pantropiko’ performed by the likes of influencer Niana Guerrero and Red Velvet’s Irene.
By March, it had officially become a national anthem, gaining airplay across television, radio, and online.
In July, the song became the first song of the ‘Nation’s Girl Group’ to reach 100 million plays on Spotify.
As of today, November 17, the music video has been seen 88 million times on video-sharing platform YouTube.
