The prolific TV host-comedian is making her grand silver screen comeback this Christmas.
On Tuesday, October 22, Star Cinema and The IdeaFirst Company jointly released the first teaser for the upcoming movie ‘And The Breadwinner Is.’
In the nearly two-minute-long teaser gives viewers a glimpse to the life of Bambi, which will be portrayed by none other than the ‘Unkabogable Phenomenal Box-Office Superstar’ Vice Ganda.
Based on the teaser, the audiences learn that Bambi is a overseas Filipino worker (OFW) who worked in a bakery in Taiwan. After years of working outside the country, she finally decides to come home and enjoy the fruits of her labor.
Much to her surprise and dismay, the new house that she had hoped to see, turned out to be her family’s old, shabby home.
Joining Vice Ganda in this movie are the likes of fellow ‘It’s Showtime’ host Jhong Hilario, Eugene Domingo, Gladys Reyes, Maris Racal, and comedians Lassy and Petite, who were seen in the teaser drop.
‘And The Breadwinner Is’ marks the first project of Vice Ganda with renowned queer director Jun Robles Lana. It is also the first “from the ground up” collaboration between the ABS-CBN film outfit and the independent movie studio.
IdeaFirst is known for the award-winning comedy movies like ‘Die Beautiful,’ ‘The Panti Sisters,’ and ‘Big Night,’ among others.
In April, Vice Ganda said that her synergy with Jun Lana is a highlight of her entire movie career.
“Highlight, ‘di ba? Highlight ‘to ng career ko this year [at] hindi lang this year, [pati] ng movie career ko… Isa to sa pinakamalaking highlights.”
Lana, meanwhile, shared what moviegoers will expect once the movie comes out.
“Unang-una, bukod sa pagsasama ng style namin [and] which I think will result to something really special, ‘yung kwento nito ay napaka-personal at napaka-importante kay Vice.”
‘And The Breadwinner Is’ is one of the 10 official entries to the upcoming 50th Metro Manila Film Festival, which will run from December 25, 2024 until January 7, 2025.
Vice’s last movie was the 2022 Metro Manila Film Festival entry ‘Partners In Crime,’ which she topbilled with Ivana Alawi and was directed by Cathy Garcia-Sampana.
