The hottest P-pop group of the year gets the nod of the globally-acclaimed award-giving body.
On Tuesday, October 8, the Europe Music Awards organized by global media brand MTV announced the nominees for its upcoming 2024 edition.
Among them is the Filipina pop group BINI, which is nominated for the Best Asian Act category at MTV EMA 2024.
The 8-member team will be competing with Korean girl group ILLIT, Japanese girl group Sakurazaka46, Indonesian soloist Mahalini, and Malaysian band Masdo.
Voting had already kicked off on Tuesday evening and will run until Wednesday, November 6, 2024 on the MTV website.
Aside from the aforementioned bracket, the EMA will also be giving awards in other categories: the Best K-pop act, Best New Artist, Best Video, Best Collaboration, Best Push, and Biggest Fans.
The 2024 MTV Europe Music Awards will happen on Sunday, November 10, at the Co-op Live arena in Manchester, England.
The nomination of the P-pop group in the EMA, composed of members Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena, is the latest in a slate of milestones that they achieved this year.
The group, which originally debuted in June 2021, garnered immense popularity at the beginning of this year after their hit songs ‘Pantropiko’ and ‘Salamin, Salamin’ became viral on social media and streaming platforms.
The momentum then continued with their English track ‘Cherry On Top,’ which they dropped last July.
At the moment, they are also preparing for their upcoming sold-out three-night first concert at the Araneta Coliseum titled ‘Grand Biniverse’ that is set to happen from November 16 to 18, 2024.
Meanwhile, in association with ABS-CBN News Documentaries, iWantTFC has also created a docu-series on the P-pop group.
The first part ‘Chapter 1: Born To Win’ was released on September 26, and the succeeding installment, ‘Chapter 2: Here With You,’ set to premiere soon.
Aside from the concert and documentary, BINI is also reportedly preparing to release separate albums for local and international audiences by the end of the year.
