The city’s mayor issued the following statement early Friday morning.
Through his social media pages, Caloocan City Mayor Along Malapitan clarified circulating social media posts regarding an alleged serial killing incident in the city.
[“I am aware of the circulating posts on social media about the alleged serial killings or serial killer here in Caloocan.”]
[“For everyone’s peace of mind, I would like to clarify that there is no truth to the report. It’s fake news.”]
Malapitan elaboarated that the viral post is that of the stabbing incident that occurred in the Morning Breeze area of the city, which is an isolated case.
He also divulged that according to Caloocan Police Chief Paul Doles, the incident was triggered by a love triangle or jealousy among the individuals involved the case.
A manhunt operation is already underway for the suspect in the stabbing incident, Malapitan added.
The Mayor also ordered the Caloocan City Police to increase their visibility throughout the city and advised netizens to stop spreading or believing in unverified reports on social media.
[“Let’s be vigilant against those who might take advantage of situations like this, especially those who intend to destroy the peace-and-order and image of our city.”]
The statement of Malapitan comes after various posts and messages spread on social media late Thursday evening about an alleged serial killer targeting different barangays in the city.
