The news organization will finally make its way to TV soon.

Starting August 12, newly-formed news group Newswatch Plus will finally be seen on television screens as it premieres its branded primetime block on Aliw Channel 23.

The ‘Newswatch Plus Primetime’ strand will be led by the flagship news program ‘Newswatch Now,’ which is already streaming every evening on its YouTube and social media accounts.

Former CNN Philippines public affairs shows will have their new episodes air via the block, with the slate of returning programs consisting of ‘Building Bridges,’ ‘Batas Et Al,’ ‘MedTalk Health Talk,’ ‘The Story of the Filipino,’ and ‘One Small Act.’

‘The Other Office’ with Lois Calderon, ‘Zoom In’ with Menchu Macapagal, ‘Manila Conversations’ with Tristan Nodalo, meanwhile, will be seen on TV for the first time through the block.

The addition of the Newswatch Plus programs on Aliw Channel 23 comes a month after the organization formally launched its shows on digital platforms, starting with the news bulletin ‘Newswatch Live’ in July.

It is also important to note that Aliw and Newswatch are distinct entities owned by a sinfle parent firm in Broadreach Media, Inc.

Newswatch Plus is also the reorganization of CNN Philippines that ceased operations in January 2024 due to “massive financial losses.”

CNNPH was owned and operated by another Broadreach subsidiary, Nine Media Corporation, under a branding license from Warner Bros. Discovery and CNN Worldwide.

Newswatch Plus has since begun gradually uploading the archives of CNN Philippines in its website and preserved videos of its predecessor on YouTube.
