Her agency has released a statement addressing the matter.

On Tuesday, July 9, OddAtelier, the agency handling the solo career of Korean pop superstar Jennie Kim of Blackpink, issued an apology on her behalf.

“We sincerely apologize to everyone who felt uncomfortable with Jennie’s actions in the content released on the 2nd.”

It added that “Jennie acknowledges and deeply regrets her mistake of vaping indoors and causing inconvenience to the staff.”

OddAtelier also stated that Jennie has since expressed her personal apology to the staff who may have been affected by her vaping.

Finally, the company also said sorry to the fans who have been “disappointed through this incident” and will “prevent this from reoccurring in the future.”

In a previous content uploaded last July 2 on her YouTube channel, Jennie was seen using vape in an indoor setting while her look was being done by her hair and make-up team.

In South Korea, it is illegal to use cigarettes and vapes while indoor, which is the reason why the clip caused outrage among Korean online users.

Although, the incident was reported to have taken place in Capri, Italy, where the vlog was filmed.

The foreign ministry of South Korea has since confirmed that they have received a complaint regarding the incident.

Jennie debuted in 2016 as part of the third-generation K-pop group Blackpink, along with fellow members Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa.

They became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs ‘Whistle,’ ‘Boombayah,’ ‘Playing with Fire,’ ‘As If It’s Your Last,’ ‘Ddu-du Ddu-du,’ ‘Kill This Love,’ ‘Lovesick Girls,’ ‘Pink Venom,’ and ‘Shut Down,’ among many others.

Late December 2023, she formally launched her own agency OddAtelier — the new company that would oversee her solo career.

At present, all four members have individually established their own labels for their solo projects.

Although, the team’s original label, YG Entertainment, will remain as the parent studio for their group activities moving forward.
