We might see her compete in the pageant scene soon.
In an interview by ABS-CBN News program ‘TV Patrol,’ professional volleyball player Fifi Sharma — who served as one of the judges during the recent Binibining Pilipinas pageant — was asked of she is willing to go to the other side and become contestant herself.
Sharma candidly answered that while she had a different thought about joining pageants prior to the coronation night, her perspective on it had changed.
“Everybody has been talking me into it since I got here, so I guess, I kinda changed my perspective on it. Maybe there’s a little chance I might go.”
Her statement earned her more encouragements from none other than two of the country’s past Miss Universe winners, Gloria Diaz and Pia Wurtzbach.
Wurtzbach, who was seated beside her, was in awe and was happy to hear that her stint as a judge helped Sharma change her mind.
The Akari Chargers player even jokingly told that the Miss Universe 2015 has a lot of convincing powers, as she is “malakas mambudol” (“too persuasive.”)
The Miss Universe 1969, meanwhile, shared her first impression of volleyball player, and said that she initially thought of Sharma as a beauty queen too.
“Akala ko nga, beauty queen siya eh,” Diaz told the media, before cheering her on to “go for it!”
Fifi Sharma previously played as a collegiate athlete for the De La Salle University Lady Spikers in the University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) until 2023.
She then became a professional volleyball player after becoming part of the Akari Chargers in the Premier Volleyball League (PVL).
Recently, Sharma was also part of the Alas Pilipinas line-up in the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) Challenge Cup for Women held in the Philippines last May 2024.
The national team placed third in the said tournament.
