Willie Revillame’s TV5 show to be called ‘Wil To Win’

The veteran TV host finally revealed the latest iteration of his variety program.

The veteran TV host finally revealed the latest iteration of his variety program.

Through a live stream on Friday, June 14, Willie Revillame made an announcement regarding his upcoming variety program on TV5.

As he had previously stated, he will not be using the title ‘Wowowin,’ which ran from May 2015 to March 2023 on GMA Network and, later, on ALLTV.

Instead, Revillame unveiled the new look and name of his upcoming variety and game show that he will co-produce with Mquest Ventures for TV5.

Titled ‘Wil To Win,’ the name of the program is drawing upon the TV host-producer’s motto that is “‘Pag may ‘Wil To Win,’ lahat kayang gawin.”

[“If one has the ‘Wil To Win,’ he can do everything.”]

It has also been confirmed that ‘Wil To Win’ will broadcast from Monday to Friday, and is expected to premiere on the Kapatid network soon.

Although, as of now, they have not yet revealed where the program’s studio will be, as well as the time slot that it will occupy on TV5.

But, in the past weeks, Revillame’s new female co-hosts for the show have already been named and they are former ‘Showtime Online U’ and MOR 101.9 disc jockey Ana Ramsey, TikTok content creators Queenay, and Inday Fatima — who are collectively known as the ‘Win Girls’.

KAPATID COMEBACK

‘Wil To Win’ marks main host Willie Revillame’s return to TV5 after almost 11 years.

He first joined the TV station during its earlier days as the newly-christened Kapatid network back in 2010.

Revillame signed up with channel 5 amidst his rift and eventual legal battle with former employer ABS-CBN, where he had hosted the noontime show ‘Wowowee’ from February 2005 until May 2010.

During his first tenure with TV5, Willie hosted and produced three shows for the station.

The first of which was the primetime variety and game shows ‘Willing Willie’ that aired from October 2010 to April 2011. That program was axed after a controversial segment involving a minor aired in one of its episodes in March 2011.

In its place, Revillame and TV5 worked on creating another primetime show titled ‘Wil Time Bigtime,’ which premiered in May 2011 and ran until January 2013.

‘Wil Time’ ran smoothly for more than a year, but had to end its run after TV5 finally decided to try its hand at making noontime variety show which would go against established programs ‘Eat Bulaga’ (then-airing on GMA) and ‘It’s Showtime’ (of ABS-CBN).

This was when ‘Wowowillie’ was born and made its premiere on January 26, 2013. However, due to low ratings and programming changes within the network, the show was canceled in May 2013, with its last episode airing on October 12 that year.

After the show bowed out, the Revillame parted ways with TV5 after his three-year contract with the station had expired.

He subsequently moved over to rival GMA-7 over a year later for the show ‘Wowowin’.

‘HAPON CHAMPION’

Before the premiere of ‘Wil To Win,’ TV5 has implemented a slew of changes in its afternoon block.

Beginning Monday, June 17, ‘Lumuhod Ka Sa Lupa’ will no longer air on Hapon Champion, as it prepares to become a primetime drama series for its second season that will begin airing soon.

Replacing it on its time slot is ‘Frontline Express,’ which transferred from 3:15 pm to the post-‘Eat Bulaga’ slot at 2:30 pm.

As of now, nothing has been formally announced yet, although previous reports have stated that ‘Wil To Win’ might air directly after ‘Eat Bulaga’ and simulcast on RPTV on channel 9 like the Philippines’ longest-running noontime show.
