‘Sakay na All!’: ALLTV simulcasts ABS-CBN’s Jeepney TV channel

The ‘new channel 2’ is currently re-airing classic shows that aired from the previous ‘Dos.’

On Monday, April 15, ALLTV signed on at 8:00 am, four hours ahead of its usual practice of airing starting at noontime.

Instead of broadcasting its own set of shows, ALLTV did the opposite and began airing archived shows from ABS-CBN, which was the former operator of free television channel 2.

This, as the Villar-owned TV channel started to simulcast content from the Lopez-owned pay television channel Jeepney TV, which broadcasts classic Kapamilya shows.

Dubbed as ‘Jeepney TV sa ALLTV,’ the block will air Monday to Friday from 8:00 am to 1:00 pm, 2:30 pm to 6:30 pm, and 8:00 pm to 10:15 pm.

The Jeepney TV hook-up of ALLTV spells a new direction for the struggling TV channel.

Since March last year, it has largely abandoned the production of original shows, with the exception of ‘ALLTV News’ bulletins and current affairs show ‘Kuha All.’

Aside from these two programs, ALLTV has only been airing repeats of its original shows, old ABS-CBN teleseryes, a handful of Asian dramas in rotation, and movies that it acquired.

For Jeepney TV, meanwhile, it also marks the channel’s return to free-to-air television.

Originally launched as a Sky Cable-exclusive channel in 2012, JTV was made available on digital television as one of the premium channels offered by ABS-CBN TVplus in July 2018.

But it fell victim to the National Telecommunications Commission (NTC)’s alias cease-and-desist order against AMCARA Broadcasting Network in June 2020, which ended its free TV broadcasts.

After that, Jeepney TV became exclusive to pay TV customers anew via Sky Cable and Cignal TV, among other providers.

This latest development also coincides with the comeback of sorts for flagship ABS-CBN newscast ‘TV Patrol’ and its weekend edition ‘TV Patrol Weekend’ on channel 2 on Monday evening.

As of the moment, neither AMBS, owner of ALLTV, nor ABS-CBN have commented on the matter.
