The former actress has delivered a statement on the death of her mother.

On Monday, March 4, Andi Eigenmann faced the press to give a statement on the passing of her mother, veteran screen actress Jaclyn Jose.

Andi, who had half-brother Gabby by her side, emotionally addressed the matter.

“It is with great sadness that I announce the untimely passing of my Nanay, Mary Jane Guck — better known as Jaclyn Jose — at the age of 60 on the morning of March 2nd, 2024 due to a myocardial infarction or a heart attack,” Andi explained.

“We would like to thank everyone who has since extended their prayers and condolences to us as our family is trying to come to terms with this unfortunate incident,” she added.

Andi also requested everyone to “please provide us the respect and privacy to grieve and we hope this would put all speculations to rest.”

“Her undeniable legacy will definitely forever live on through her work, through her children, grandchildren and the many lives she has touched, as she herself, her life itself was her greatest obra maestra,” Andi ended her statement.

‘THE JACLYN JOSE’

Jaclyn Jose, who was born Mary Jane Guck, made her acting debut 1984 via the film ‘Chicas,’ which was directed by William Pascual.

She went on to star in movies directed by the likes of Lino Brocka (White Slavery) and Chito Roño (Private Show), and earned her first Gawad Urian nomination for the former.

In the ’90s, she transitioned to television and starred as Ester Lagrimas in the family drama ‘Familia Zaragoza’ on ABS-CBN.

She also played the iconic role of Magdalena Trinidad in the top-rated teleserye ‘Mula sa Puso,’ before portraying characters in other dramas, including ‘Sana’y Wala Nang Wakas,’ ‘Hiram,’ ‘Prinsesa ng Banyera,’ ‘Mundo Mo’y Akin,’ and ‘Marimar (2015),’ to name a few.

In 2016, she was awarded the prestigious Best Actress award at the Cannes Film Festival for her lead role in Brillante Mendoza’s ‘Ma’ Rosa,’ where she played the titular character Rosa — a drug dealer in the slums.

Her win is an historic one, as she is the first Filipino and Southeast Asian actress to bag the award in the said category.

Back at home, in recent years, she has appeared in multiple television and movie projects, led by 2018 Metro Manila Film Festival comedy blockbuster ‘Fantastica,’ independent movie ‘Kalel, 15,’ GMA drama series ‘The World Between Us,’ and ‘Bolera’.

In 2023, she reunited with Coco Martin through the ongoing ABS-CBN primetime action drama ‘FPJ’s Batang Quiapo,’ where she was casted in the role of BGen. Dolores Espinas.

The said project also marked her homecoming to the Kapamilya network after a decade of doing TV shows with GMA.

Trendrod expresses its deepest sympathies to the bereaved loved ones, friends, and colleagues of the late Jaclyn Jose.
