The news channel has given the heads up to their viewers.
Upon the delivery of the news of Sky Cable’s impending cessation of broadcasts on February 27, 2024, the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) aired a short notice to their viewers.
According to ANC, upon the closure of Sky Cable, their programs will continue to be seen over Converge Vision, provincial cable TV operators, the ANC 24/7 YouTube channel, the ABS-CBN News YouTube channel, and The Filipino Channel for viewers abroad.
ANC’s flagship primetime newscast ‘The World Tonight’ is also seen via the Kapamilya Channel on pay TV and Kapamilya Online Live on YouTube.
In similar fashion, Filipino news channel Teleradyo Serbisyo of ABS-CBN minority-owned Media Serbisyo Corporation is also expected to be only available through other outlets once Sky Cable’s operations end in February.
However, unlike its news counterparts, ABS-CBN’s entertainment channels Kapamilya Channel, Jeepney TV, Myx, Metro Channel, Cinema One, and CineMo! are also available on leading pay TV provider Cignal TV and its sister service Satlite.
Cignal TV offers ANC’s rival news channels One News and One PH.
The end of Sky Cable broadcasts after 32 years comes as the PLDT-Sky deal closes nearly a year after it was inked by the parties and appoved by regulatory bodies, including the Philippine Competition Commission (PCC) which gave the final greenlight on January 19, 2024.
