The drag queen has been named the country’s rep.
On Saturday, the official social media pages of ‘Drag Race UK’ announced the contestants for the forthcoming second season of its spin-off series ‘Drag Race UK versus The World’.
Part of the list is drag queen and ‘Drag Race Philippines’ season 1 runner-up Marina Summers.
In a post on X, Marina shared her thoughts regarding her inclusion in the UK series.
“Thank you UK for welcoming me with your warm support! I cannot wait to nake another killer season with you.”
“To my home country, Pilipinas, this is for you! I will raise our flag every step of the way,” the drag queen ended her statement.
Marina will compete against 10 representatives from other ‘Drag Race’ franchises across the globe, led by the UK’s Choriza May, Gothy Kendoll, Jonbers Blonde, and Tia Kofi.
‘Drag Race UK versus The World’ season 2 will premiere on February 9, its broadcaster the BBC said.
The drag queen’s participation in the series is the first time for any contestant from the Philippine franchise of the worldwide hit reality show.
Hosted by ‘Eat Bulaga’ host Paolo Ballesteros, ‘Drag Race Philippines’ premiered in 2022 on the Discovery+ platform and crowned Precious Paula Nicole as the winner of the first season.
It streamed its second season the following year on HBO GO, with Captivating Katkat declared the latest titleholder.
Its return for a third season has also been recently greenlit and announced.
The format emanates from the United States version ‘RuPaul’s Drag Race,’ which is hosted and produced by renowned drag queen and media personality RuPaul Charles.
Currently, the ‘OG’ version is currently on its sixteenth season and airs via MTV in the USA.
