The local organization has issued the following statement.
On Tuesday, the Miss Universe Philippines Organization posted on their official channels a statement clarifying what transpired during Miss Universe Philippines 2023 Michelle Dee’s visit to Mexico.
Dee joined a delegation composed of officials from the Miss Universe Organization, other finalists, and Miss Universe 2023 Sheynnis Palacios. The said trip to Mexico comes as the central American country was recently announced during the 72nd Coronation night last weekend as the host of the next edition in 2024.
However, in a TV guesting, Dee was caught on camera being escorted out of the studio by some staff. This later triggered speculations from netizens online, with many calling the incident as a hostile move towards the Filipina beauty queen.
But the MUPH team stated that by the time Michelle Dee left the line, the segment was already over. Initially, Dee wanted to just drink water, “as she wasn’t feeling well due to the past week’s tedious back-to-back schedule.”
Miss Universe Philippines also added, “Upon seeing her condition, the MUPH team decided that it was best for her to go back to the hotel to get some rest.”
The team also assured that Dee will rejoin the city tour once she feels better. They also asked fans to wish that the beauty queen feels better soon.
Michelle Dee, who hails from Makati City, Philippines, finished in the Top 10 of the Miss Universe 2023 pageant. The said edition was held in San Salvador, El Salvador.
