Filipino hoops fans now have more ways to catch the action.
The 2023 FIBA World Cup will officially begin tomorrow, August 25, 2023. The Philippines will be co-hosting the event alongside Okinawa, Japan and Jakarta, Indonesia.
In the metro, the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City and the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City will both serve as the venues for Manila games. Meanwhile, the opening ceremony will take place at the Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.
For basketball fans in the Philippines that are not able to acquire tickets or travel to the venues, the FIBA mateches will air live and on delayed telecast on both television and streaming media.
On TV, Cignal TV’s One Sports channel on free-to-air television and pay TV channel One Sports+ are the main channels covering the FIBA World Cup in the country. PBA Rush will also be carrying games of Gilas Pilipinas.
Major television network TV5 will also be airing select matches. Schedules provided by the network as of the moment include a match airing at 10:45 pm on Friday, August 25 (pre-empting Frontline Tonight) and Saturday, August 26. Meanwhile, it will be on at 9:30 pm on Sunday, August 27.
State-owned People’a Television Network or PTV will also have an arrangement with Cignal TV to air Gilas Pilipinas games via delayed telecast at 10:00 pm on August 25, 27, and 29.
Broadcast of games also extend to online. Cignal Play, Pilipinas Live, and Smart Livestream over-the-top (OTT) platforms will make the matches available on their respective platforms.
The 2023 FIBA World Cup will run from August 25 to September 10, 2023.
