CNN Philippines’ YouTube channel terminated by YouTube

Another high-profile Filipino channel on YouTube has been hit.

CNN Philippines’ YouTube channel became inaccessible on Monday, July 17, after the said platform removed the account due to alleged ‘third-party copyright infringement claims’.

As of press time, both CNN Philippines and YouTube’s parent firm Google have yet to comment on the matter.

Moreover, the channel has yet to be restored late Monday evening.

CNN Philippines has been on the air for more than eight years now after Nine Media Corporation and then-Turner Broadcasting Company signed a deal for the localized version of Turner’s cable news channel CNN.

Despite the YouTube problem, CNN Philippines remains on air on TV and on other platforms.

In an unrelated case, the ‘termination’ of the CNN Philippines YouTube channel happens a few days after the platform took down the channels owned and operated by the SMNI network of Pastor Apollo Quiboloy.

However, in SMNI’s case, Google said in the past that its decision was due to their compliance with US Sanctions laws, which relates to Quiboloy’s cases and outstanding warrant of arrest in the United States.
