ABS-CBN and TV5 are revving up for their afternoon drama comeback this month.
Today, July 10, ABS-CBN and TV5 jointly unveiled the full trailers for their new afternoon soaps ‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nag-aapoy na Damdamin’. The two series, which are under the co-production slate of both networks, will make their premiere on July 25, 2023 — the Tuesday after the State of the Nation Address.
In ‘Pira-Piraso,’ the new gen leading ladies Alexa Ilacad, Elisse Joson, Charlie Dizon, and Loisa Andalio will take centerstage. They will be joined by Joseph Marco, Ronnie Alonte, and KD Estrada. Epy Quizon, Sunshine Dizon, Art Acuña, and Markus Paterson are also part of the cast. Snooky Serna will also have a special participation in the project.
The program will be directed by Raymund B. Ocampo and Roderick P. Lindayag, who also served as the directors for the 2017 mega-hit afternoon drama ‘Wildflower’. It will be under the Dreamscape Entertainment Unit.
‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso’ will be aired every weekday afternoon at 3:00 pm and Saturdays at 2:30 pm, right after ‘It’s Showtime’ on Kapamilya Channel and A2Z. Meanwhile, it will come after ‘More Than Friends’ on TV5 weekdays, and ‘E.A.T.’ on Saturdays. It will also be available on Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC.
‘Nag-aapoy’ will be a revenge series starring JC de Vera, Jane Oineza, Ria Atayde, and Tony Labrusca. Joko Diaz, Myla Gumila, Nico Antonio, Kim Rodriguez, and Aya Fernandez are also part of the series.
FM Reyes and Benedict Mique will serve as the series’ director. ‘Nag-aapoy na Damdamin’ is under the JRB Creative Production unit. Reyes and the production team have also worked together in the past via the hit pandemic primetime series ‘Ang Sa Iyo Ay Akin’.
The drama will unfold Monday to Friday at 3:50 pm on Kapamilya Channel, A2Z, and TV5. Online, it will stream on Kapamilya Online Live and iWantTFC.
The launch of ‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nag-aapoy na Damdamin’ revitalizes the afternoon blocks of ABS-CBN and TV5. The Kapamilya network last had a fresh afternoon drama offering in April 2021, while TV5’s last attempt goes as far back as 2012.

As for TV5, they are set to debut a third afternoon series titled ‘Minsan Pa Nating Hagkan ang Nakaraan’ starring Cesar Montano, Cristine Reyes, and Marco Gumabao. It will be a collaboration of TV5 and Viva, premiere exclusively on the Kapatid network on July 25 at 4:40 pm.
Their combined efforts will also have to face a behemoth in GMA Afternoon Prime, which has been dominating the daytime television landscape since 2020. Currently, the said block performs strongly, thanks to the high viewership of ‘Abot-Kamay na Pangarap’.
‘Pira-Pirasong Paraiso’ and ‘Nag-aapoy na Damdamin’ will premiere on July 25, 2023, starting 3:00 pm on the Kapamilya Gold block on Kapamilya Channel and Kapamilya Online Live, A2Z’s Zuper Hapon, and Hapon Champion on TV5. Catch-up airing will be available on YouTube and iWantTFC.
