ANC revamps weekday programming line-up

The ABS-CBN News Channel bared their new weekday shows last Monday.

ANC, the 24/7 English news channel of ABS-CBN, made a revamp with regards to their weekday programming line-up, effective Monday, July 3.

The sweeping changes began with the 7:00 am edition of ‘Rundown,’ the morning newscast formerly co-anchored by Atty. Mike Navallo and Nikki de Guzman. Firstly, Navallo had left the show last Friday, June 30, leaving de Guzman as the sole anchor of the newscast moving forward. Secondly, the runtime of the show has also been trimmed down to 30 minutes, from its original 60 minute-long airtime. Format-wise, it has also become a straight newscast, deviating from its former interview-centric format.

Both ‘Headstart’ and ‘Market Edge’ kept their current format. But at 10:00 am, the edition of ‘Rundown’ anchored by Stanley Palisada has been axed, in favor of a simpler rundown of the top stories with ‘ANC Headlines’.

Karmina Constantino’s ‘Dateline Philippines’ has also retained its format through the changes. But the afternoon editions of ‘Rundown’ at 2:00 and 4:00 pm also faced the similar fate as the 10:00 am edition, and had also been removed to give way to ‘ANC Headlines’.

The 3:00 pm Market Edge with Stanley Palisada is also gone. In its place is an hour-long business newscast ‘Business Roadshow,’ where Palisada is joined by Deniece Dinsay.

Jumping straight ahead to primetime and right after the simulcast of ‘TV Patrol,’ is the return of sorts for ‘Business Nightly,’ the long-running primetime business newscast of ANC that was canceled in 2020. ‘Business Outlook’ with Ron Cruz and Salve Duplito airs weeknights at 8:00 pm. Serving as the last newscast for the day is still ‘The World Tonight’ with Tony Velasquez and Pia Gutierrez at 9:00 pm (with a delayed telecast on the Kapamilya Channel).

The overhaul of the news channel’s program grid comes amidst the transition of its Filipino-language sister news channel ABS-CBN TeleRadyo to TeleRadyo Serbisyo/DWPM 630. The new ‘Radyo 630’ on AM radio in Mega Manila is under the management of ABS-CBN’s joint venture with Prime Media Holdings. ANC, meanwhile, remains under the full control of ABS-CBN News.
