ABS-CBN to remake BBC’s Doctor Foster

The Kapamilya network is set to do an adaptation of the popular British drama.

On April 13, 2021, ABS-CBN Entertainment and BBC Studios – the international production and distribution arm of UK’s public broadcaster, the BBC – jointly announced the production of a Philippine version of BBC’s Doctor Foster. Produced by Matt Bartlett, the series first aired on BBC One in 2015 and later spawned a second season in its origin country. It has since been remade in five countries to date.

Amongst the list is the 2020 smash hit The World of Married starring Han Sohee, Park Haejoon, and Kim Hee-ae. The Korean adaptation, produced by JTBC, was also aired locally by ABS-CBN via Kapamilya Channel and iWantTFC last June 2020.

Doctor Foster revolves around the titular character of Gemma Foster, a medical professional who was cheated on by her husband, Simon Foster, after meeting Kate Parks. The series also tackled the psychological effects of such to children like Tom, the son of Gemma and Simon.

According to ABS-CBN, the series will begin production in the latter half of 2021. Serving as the executive producers of the PH adaptation would be head honchos of the Kapamilya network — Carlo Katigbak, Cory Vidanes, Laurenti Dyogi, and Deo Endrinal.

The network is yet to release the official name of the adaptation and the cast of the series.
