As it receives another grant under the Special Grants Fund (SGF) of the National Council for Children’s Television (NCCT).
Following the inaugural Child-Friendly Content Awards last October 27, GMA Network announced that its magazine-infotainment special Planet XP, which was hosted by Kapuso actor Miguel Tanfelix in its first season, will be getting new installments soon.
The program, which is a 2024 National Endowment Fund for Children’s Television (NEFCTV) grantee and aired its finished product in summer 2026, is getting a second season after being named among the approved grant recipients of the 2026 SGF.
In the five-episode program, Miguel took taking viewers into immersive adventures and real-life encounters with nature as he tried his hand at hosting for the first time.
The 27-year-old heartthrob tried activities such as mountain climbing, windsurfing, connecting with indigenous people, and showcasing the beauty of the Philippines.
According to Miguel, this project is meaningful for him as an artist and a person.
“Napatunayan ko rito na hindi sapat na pinapanood mo lang sa social media ‘yung adventures. Kailangan ma-experience mo firsthand ang pag-connect sa nature dahil marami kang matututunan,” he said in a previous statement.
Meanwhile, the Kapuso network and its secondary channel GTV emerged as Child-Friendly Television (CFTV) Compliance Award recipients at the said awarding ceremony.
Hosts Chris Tiu, Doc Ferds Recio, and Atom Araullo were recognized as CFTV Champions.
Meanwhile, several prograns also earned Honorable Mentions for their respective contributions to children-oriented and children-friendly television such as iBilib, Born to be Wild, Amazing Earth, and Pinas Sarap.
In addition to Planet XP, an experiential educational documentary and adventure series exploring natural science and outdoor adventure called Animal Code under GMA Public Affairs was also named as a 2026 grantee.
