Following the recent initial public offering (IPO) of another local fintech giant.
Speaking to members of the press, business tycoon Manny Pangilinan disclosed future plans for the financial technology arm of his empire, Maya Bank, Inc.
The company, which operates the electronic bank Maya and other related services such as the physical payment terminals at establishments, is also gearing up for its own IPO.
“I haven’t heard from our colleagues as to where we are. But the plan is still to list it (Maya) next year (since) it is too late for this year,” Pangilinan noted.
The tycoon also noted that he has conveyed to other shareholders his personal preference to have Maya listed in the local stock market, even if they wish to simultaneously list on the Nasdaq in the United States. “If they want to have a Nasdaq listing, we have no objection. But I think there should be a listing in the Philippines,” he shared.
MVP also took note of the recent successful IPO of Mynt, Inc., the parent company of mobile wallet platform GCash, at the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE).
“You’ve seen the success of Mynt and they have proven that a quality of a company like Mynt, they can attract great deal of demand in shares,” he said.
Mynt listed with a market capitalization of PHP 441.51 billion, making it the seventh largest domestic company in the PSE. It also notably surpassed the initial public offering of Monde Nissin Corp. in 2021.
Mynt was able to raise PHP 60.9 billion from the sale of primary and secondary shares, with 140,725 GCash subscribers having invested PHP 1.1 billion in this IPO through the GCash app.
“Maya is not of the same scale as Mynt, but I think it can be a success,” he furthered.
Maya currently has an active user base of 10.7 million users as of the first half of 2026. Total balances reached PHP86 billion, while the company has loan receivables worth PHP39 billion.
