During the recent media conference for the Prime Video original comedy-reality competition LOL: Last One Laughing Philippines Season 2, members of the press—including Trendrod—were given an early pass to the first episode of the local franchise’s second installment.

This season, competing for the PHP1 million cash prize that is up for grabs are Long Mejia, Epy Quizon, Candy Pangilinan, Pooh, Ethel Booba, Chariz Solomon, Donna Cariaga, James Caraan, Charuth, and Esnyr.

The chaotic nature of the show was encapsulated in the first few minutes of the show, as host Vice Ganda introduced the program and the contestants entered one by one.

Each of them brought their own antics and put their distinct comedic flair front-and-center. In fact, their first interactions are not to be missed out as there were also plenty of scenes that drew LOL (laugh out loud) reactions from people inside the room.

In spite of those fun interactions between cast members, they were surely reminded of their purpose as Vice entered the room, which was designed this season as the LOL Terminal with numerous references to the jeepney and road culture in the Philippines, to explain the mechanics to them.

For the unititiated, it is pretty easy to grasp. The contestants are tasked to outlast each other within the six hours allotted for the game. The rule is they must make other people laugh, without doing so themselves.

If they were caught the first time, they are to be given the yellow card as a warning. But for the repeat offender, they will have the dreaded red card and exit the game altogether.

The person who will be able to survive the time period without breaking will be able to win the cash prize and the title.

And as Vice pressed the button to signal the start of game, all comedians brought their A-game and instantly shifted their faces to neutral mode and went by their own playbooks.

A few of them, such as Long Mejia, James Caraan, and Candy Pangilinan showcased their prepared materials (which they refer to as “baon”) and went on to target their fellow contenders who they had their eyes already locked on and edge them to the brink of elimination.

Spoiler alert: there were three yellow cards handed out on the first episode and viewers will definitely laugh as they process what took these comedians to momentarily break.

Surely, those who have watched the first season would also ask if there are those, which we can describe as “unsettling,” scenes between participants this season?

Good news, episode one was truly in the nature of good and lighthearted fun and was devoid of any “extreme” acts that contestants in the first season resorted to.

If you are not yet convinced about LOL: Last One Philippines Season 2, the series will drop on streaming giant Prime Video in the Philippines and in 240 countries and territories this Friday, October 30.
