The superstar has set the record straight on one of the biggest “urban legends” about her.
During her milestone first guest appearance on Gandang Gabi Vice, actress Marian Rivera was asked by host Vice Ganda regarding the “padlock incident” that has long been used against her in the past decade.
Asked about whether the incident was true, she said: “Kung ang tanong mo ay nangyari ba talaga, hindi.”
Marian then noted that all is well between her and the other person linked to this issue, whom she did not directly name during the program.
“‘Yung totoo niyan, maayos na kaming dalawa. Noon pa man, way way back at hindi ko makakalimutan, nag-guest siya sa Marian show,” she recalled her meeting personality on her short-lived eponymous GMA show that aired in 2014.
“Sabi sa’kin no’ng staff doon, ‘Okay ba? Ige-guest ko si ganito?’ Sabi ko, ‘Of course, sige.’ Pumunta siya, nagkita kaming dalawa, [at] nag-sorry siya sa akin,” she remembered.
The actress furthered, “So, from there, alam niya na may mga nangyari na hindi naman talagang nangyari. Para sa akin, hindi ko na kailangan i-explain sa social media. Okay na ako doon. Ang mahalaga ‘pag nagkikita kami, okay na kami. At napatawad ko na siya.”
Marianbalso explained that she had chosen to remain silent for years as it would not sway the public’s opinion, with some already believing the version they have already heard.
Although, she rhetorically asked: “Paano mo gagawin ‘yung ila-lock mo [galing sa labas], e, nasa loob ang lock? Ibig sabihin, sabay kaming dalawang nag-lock?”
Asked again by Vice if the “padlock” incident ever happened, Marian affirmed: “Never.”
