“Is this a sign of his return to the Kapuso network?”
That is the general question posed by netizens and observers after seeing seasoned TV host-producer Willie Revillame and GMA executive Annette Gozon-Valdes in another meeting.
The said photo, which was posted by Joy Marcelo, First Vice President of Sparkle GMA Artist Center, was uploaded through a story on her Instagram account.
Embedded on the said photo was a simple caption the read: “Abangan,” with a heart shaped hand gesture emoji at the end.
This meeting came a few months after Marcelo also shared a photo of their encounter with Willie, who noted at that time that they were talking about other matters beyond doing a show together.
While it appeared to be a simple meeting between them, the timing could not come at a much intriguing time.
Wilyonaryo and Revillame’s eponymous channel Wil TV ended their run last May 15 after lasting for more than three months on the air.
But before the channel signed off, the 65-year-old announced that he has decided to bring back his game show Wowowin, which originally aired on GMA Network from 2015 to 2022, until the TV host-producer moved it after singing up with ALLTV from late 2022 until April 2023.
While no network was announced around that time, hints were dropped that it may be brought back to its original home network.
Previously, Revillame was reported to have sent feelers for a possible Kapuso comeback.
At the height of the debacle surrounding the dispute between TAPE, Inc. and the TVJ troika of Tito and Vic Sotto and Joey De Leon over Eat Bulaga in 2023, it was speculated that Revillame was keen on taking on the prime noon slot.
After TAPE’s replacement show, Tahanang Pinakamasaya, was axed in early 2024, reports floated once more that Willie could bring back Wowowin as GMA noon show.
Eventually, that did not materialize and GMA instead partnered with ABS-CBN for the simulcast of It’s Showtime on the flagship channel, as well as GTV.
In April 2024, Revillame also forged a different path after signing with Mediaquest for a slot on TV5 and its sister Cignal channels.
Three months later, in July 2024, Wil To Win made its premiere, featuring virtually all segments of Wowowin. But after the host-producer’s decision to pursue his Senatorial bid for the 2025 polls, he left the program with his close friend Randy Santiago taking over until its final episode in May 2025.
Currently, there are still no comments from both GMA and Willie Revillame’s camp about the supposed meeting.
