A substantial increase from its visitorship during the same period last year.
In a statement, SM Prime Holdings, Inc. disclosed that it logged strong demand from its major live entertainment venues in the first eight months of the year.
This, the SM Mall of Asia (MOA) Arena, SM Seaside Cebu Arena and SMDC Festival Grounds in Parañaque welcomed over 1 million visitors in from January to August 2026.
It is a 52 percent increase from approximately 710,000 visitors in the same period last year, with the company attributing it to concerts, sporting events and family shows, and the opening of the SM Seaside Cebu Arena last July.
The company noted more than 110 shows staged at the SM MOA Arena from January to August, showing up to 20% increase during the same period in 2025.
They also expect the momentum to continue through the final months of the year, with upcoming sold-out shows including those by original Filipino music (OPM) icon Regine Velasquez, Silent Sanctuary, and the Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer.
Some of the upcoming shows also include those by Jason Mraz, Wave to Earth, LE SSERAFIM, and Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance!
SM Seaside Cebu Arena also had a “strong start,” with sold-out opening concerts by BINI and IV of Spades.
With confirmed events including the Premier Volleyball League (PVL) and Spikers’ Turf, East Asia Super League and LANY, and Disney On Ice presents Let’s Dance!
In 2027, confimed events at SM Prime venues include Westlife’s anniversary tour, The Script’s sold-out three-show run, Maroon 5’s Asia 2027 tour, and the BIGBANG at the SMDC Festival Grounds in Manila, as well as the 2027 FIBA Women’s Asia Cup in Cebu.
Jeffrey Lim, president of SM Prime, said: “Our venues provide Filipino audiences with a complete experience before, during and after a live event. With dining, retail, entertainment and other amenities within easy reach, we are able to extend the experience beyond the event itself while creating more value across our properties.”
