At the media conference for the 11th PPOP Music Awards, which was held last Sunday, September 27, in Quezon City, P-pop temas 6ENSE and One South were grouped together to take questions from members from the media.
Asked about what they want to leave as a mark for their fans, ESENSE, from their latest single Piliin Mo Ako, 6ENSE member Wiji reflected: “Very upfront naman po nung message ng music video na sana ang ‘mapili mo ako.'”
He also conveyed that the song also goes beyond the context of being just romantic in nature and goes political by telling people to choose “what’s best for us Filipinos.”
“Kaya po ganu’n ang music video ng Piliin Mo Ako because we want to open the conversation for many people na makakapanood ng music video namin… na sana next time na pipiliin ang mga lider natin, make sure na tayo ‘yung panalo at hindi sila (politicians).”
For Hunter, he emphasized that the song points out how P-pop can be an instrument to “educate people and open the eyes of everyone.”
Meanwhile, as P-pop continues to go global, the 6ENSE’s Ruko said that he is now “living the dream” and being an idol also helps him inspire his ownself.
For One South’s Rover, he admits the he feels happy that their group is recognized as the first Mindanao pop group and added that they deliver more passion into the craft.
Jace also said that it is a great opportunity for them to perform in Manila as they aim to bring more of Filipino culture in the music scene.
Both groups will perform at the 11th PPOP Music Awards, which will take place this October 18 at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City.
