This, as he discussed some personal matters during a recent interview.
In his sit-down conversation with showbiz news reporter Ogie Diaz, actor Patrick Garcia brought up past issues that happened during his relationship with actress Jennylyn Mercado.
According to the former child actor, he decided to speak up after his daughter, Michelle Garcia, has been receiving hatred and bashing from users on social media.
In his version of the story, he told that he has been reaching out to Jennylyn since 2018 and got no replies from her. He, however, confirmed that his side received communication from the actress in 2021 to inform Patrick about the possible adoption of their son, Jazz Mercado.
When he asked her about seeing Jazz, she said to him: “Oo, yeah.”
He then returned all the way back to how they knew they were expecting their child back in 2008. During that time, Patrick said that he and Jennylyn were excited upon learning about their pregnancy for the first time.
However, it was on her second month of pregnancy that it got convuluted for their relationship.
“After the announcement, ang daming tsimis. Kesyo, hindi (raw) sa akin (si Jazz) o nakita si Jen sa condo ni actor o politican… For me, part of showbusiness (‘yung mga intriga). It’s bothersome, but it’s not under my control,” he recalled.
Later on, after an interview with Jobert Sucaldito for The Buzz, Patrick said that they got on a heated exchange over the phone after Jennylyn’s side saw the said clip, where he was hypothetically asked about if the child was not his.
“I don’t know how the conversation ended, but I know it ended na hindi kami okay. Unresolved siya,” he remembered.
Weeks later and after Jennylyn’s own interview on Startalk, Patrick said he was shocked to know that she was already in a relationship with another personality.
“But I didn’t stop there, I still wanted to get to talk to her,” he recalled.
A few months after that, the actor flew to the United States to take a break and remembered that he was abroad during the time when Jennylyn gave birth to Jazz.
Although, he said that he did not reach out to the actress when their son was born.
“‘Yun ‘yung storya ko. So sa mga bashers na bina-bash ako; they hate me so much because they’re saying na iniwanan ko si Jen—no, that’s not true,” he said.
He also said for those who are saying that he was never by Jennylyn’s side during her pregnancy, “that’s true.”
“I was never there for Jen during her pregnancy not because I didn’t want to be there, but because she didn’t want me to be there,” he added.
Patrick also said that that he chose not to speak up for so many years, but Jennylyn’s words still “haunt” him and his family with his wife, Nikka Garcia, up to this day.
“People are hating on us too much and I think it’s unfair. For me, hindi ako masamang tao,” he added.
JENNYLYN’S SIDE RESPONDS, DENNIS SHARES CRYPTIC POSTS
In response to the interview, Jennylyn’s parent management, Aguila Artists, issued a statement on their social media page.
“Our artist, Jennylyn Mercado, will not comment or grant any interviews regarding Patrick Garcia’s statements on Ogie Diaz’s YouTube channel,” they said.
“Everyone is entitled to share their story on whatever platform they choose. In this case, Jennylyn would rather not share her side of the story out of respect for the privacy and peace of mind of both her family and Patrick’s.”
They also conveyed Jennylyn’s request for the public to stop the hate and refrain from bashing Patrick’s family, especially his daughter, Michelle.
“Rest assured that Jennylyn and her son, Jazz, are living a good and happy life with her husband, Dennis, daughter Dylan, and stepson Calix. Thank you,” the statement concluded.
Meanwhile, her husband, actor Dennis Trillo, has also been posting cryptic posts on his social media page, seemingly answering Patrick’s interview.
While not directly addressing Patrick, he said: “Hindi ako pabor sa bashing, pero salamat at naalala mo si Jazz dahil na bash ang anak mo.”
“Spread love, not hate,” he added.
