From getting two gold medals to giving two engagement rings.
Fresh from his successful stint in the 2026 Asian Games, where he clinched his two gold medals — also currently the only pair of gold medals of the Philippines — gymnast Carlos Yulo announced another life milestone.
“9 months ago… She said ‘Yes.'” the athlete disclosed his engagement to longtime girlfriend Chloe San Jose.
“And all I can say and all I can feel, is that I am truly blessed. Blessed to love you. Blessed to be loved by you. Blessed to have you as my fiancé and, soon, as my forever,” he continued his post.
The award-winning athlete, who also clinched back-to-back gold medals in the 2024 Paris Olympic games, also professed his love to the singer-content creator.
“Mahal ko, pangako kong aalagaan, mamahalin, at poprotektahan kita sa lahat ng panahon. Sa hirap at ginhawa, sa saya at pagsubok, pipiliin kita araw-araw. At sa biyaya ng Diyos, makakasama kita hanggang sa buhay na walang hanggan,” he told her.
Carlos also thanked God for them with this “wonderful moment” and for letting them experience a love that is guided by Him.
“We’re so grateful that the Lord has always been with us through everything that happens in our lives, sa lahat ng pagsubok, saya, at bawat biyayang dumarating sa amin,” he continued.
The 26-year-old concluded his post by saying, “Thank You, Lord, for writing our story so beautifully and for being with us every step of the way. Here’s to our love, our faith, and forever together.”
Meanwhile, in her own social media post, Chloe revealed the date of their engagement, which was December 18, 2025.
“For 9 months, we’ve been treasuring this beautiful secret between us, quietly smiling to ourselves and taking our time to cherish it, knowing that one day we’d finally share it with the world,” she wrote.
San Jose also recalled that their relationship begand with a simple message she sent him on social media, which read: “Hi, I’m a fan po.”
“Neither of us could have known where that little message would take us. And from there, life became a collection of airports, competitions, hotel rooms, long training days, little adventures, big dreams, and countless moments in between,” she continued.
According to her, she got to watch Carlos chase his dreams, who then let her be beside him through the biggest moments in his life.
“We grew up together. We learned together. We fought for each other, protected each other, supported each other, and built a life of our own,” she added.
Through everything, she also told that God has continued to guide, protect, and give them the strength to keep going.
“And looking back now, I’m grateful even for the chapters that weren’t easy, because they brought us here,” she furthered.
To conclude her message, she said: “Mahal ko, I would choose you in every lifetime. And now, we get to choose each other for the rest of this one. I love you. Forever.”
