With the company setting up its own cameras as tennis is not part of the official live feeds of the ongoing regional contest.
Cignal TV, Inc., the official Philippine broadcaster of the ongoing Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games, has confirmed plans for the coverage of the matches of rising tennis star Alex Eala.
According to the multimedia company, a tennis live feed is not included in the package of the host broadcaster in Japan. Thus, it is setting up its own cameras inside the venue where the world no. 18 will play.
In a statement shared by Cignal’s sports channel One Sports, the company’s first vice president and head of sports content Sienna Olaso noted, “We will not let the Filipinos down in not being able to watch Eala’s games here… We’ll place our own cameras and digital equipment.”
According to reports, Cignal is spending PHP1 million to deliver the match of the Filipina athlete, who is the top seed in the women’s singles event, live to viewers in the Philippines.
There, she is aiming to go beyond her bronze medal finish in Hangzhou 2023 and clinch the Philippines’ first Asian Games tennis gold since 1962.
Cignal airs the Aichi-Nagoya Asian Games 2026 live on RPTV on RPN and TV5 digital sub-channel, One Sports on free-to-air television and YouTube, One Sports+ and Cignal Play.
Meanwhile, Eala is set to finally start her Singapore Open 2026 journey. There, she is expected to face Russian player Tatiana Prozorova in Round of the 16 of the tournament, which will happen at the OCBC Arena in Kallang on Thursday, September 24.
After completing her stint in Singapore, she is set to head to Nagoya for the Asian Games tennis competition, which is slated to start on September 27.
Alex is also skipping the China Open in Beijing, which is one of the required WTA 1000 tournaments in the calendar.
