As they headline a series of shows in the “Land Down Under.”
On Tuesday, September 22, a segment of the Australian morning show Today Extra aired featuring the Filipina girl group BINI, who is in town for the staging of the Australia and New Zealand leg of their Signals World Tour series.
All eight members—Aiah, Colet, Maloi, Gwen, Stacey, Mikha, Jhoanna, and Sheena—appeared in the live segment from their remote location in Melbourne.
Asked about how excited are they to be finally performing in Australia again, this time for their tour, Colet replied: “We’re very very excited to be finally back here in Australia and we had a lot of fun in our Melbourne concert two days ago.”
She also conveyed their excitement in meeting their fans, Blooms, in New Zealand and Sydney.
Meanwhile, Gwen received a question about their experience at the Coachella Music Festival in April, where they made history as the first Filipino group to perform on one of the world’s biggest music events.
“The feeling was surreal and priceless,” she said. “Standing on that stage and hearing the people sing and dance with us, as well as representing the Philippines, it made us proud and honored.”
“It was very memorable and we’re very grateful for that opportunity,” Gwen added.
Meanwhile, Sheena shared that three years after their last show in Australia, the team became “more confident and more comfortable performing on stage.”
Mikha also enthused on the release of their new music, including the official soundtrack for the animated film Forgotten Island entitled A Parallel World: “It’s very exciting because we love performing in front of our Aussie fans and we love Australia in general.”
Jhoanna also reflected on what makes Filipino music unique and special. “I think… it is the heart behind it. Filipinos love storytelling through music and there is always so much passion and so much emotion in everything we create and every performance that we do,” she said.
Aiah also noted that they look forward to get some coffee and asked the hosts David Campbell and Belinda Russel for recommendations, who gladly gave them some such as enjoying beaches in Sydney, hugging koalas, the Vegemite.
BINI had just concluded the North American leg of their Signals World Tour, with the Asian stops coming right after the ANZ leg.
