She said this as she narrated the journey the led her to this path.
In a series of social media post, Kapuso actress and OG StarStruck alum Yasmien Kurdi shared how her journey into pursuing a degree in law came to be.
For her, it started with an email that delivered the news of her passing the entrance examination at the Arellano University School of Law.
“Noong una, hindi ko talaga alam kung tama ba na nag-law school ako… Pero ngayon, unti-unti kong nakikita na calling pala talaga siya. Somehow, it brought me here, and maybe, exactly where I needed to be,” she wrote in the caption of her post.
The actress then remembered that she took yhe entrance exam one week before the first day of class as she was unsure of what she was putting herself to at that time.
“I remember taking the entrance exam just one week before the first day of class because, honestly, hindi talaga ako sure sa ginagawa ko. Nagulat pa ako nang pumasa ako kasi akala ko hindi ako makakapasok. I was simply taking things one day at a time, not really knowing where this path would lead me.“
However, it would become a decision of a lifetime, as it will allow her to slowly heal and found new friends that became like siblings to her.
“And somehow, kahit pagod sa dami ng readings, cases, recitations, at deadlines, I found myself enjoying being busy with something completely different,” she continued.
It was then when Yasmien made the statement: “Law school became my healing ground.”
The Kapuso personality said that she also finds herself laughing at where she is currently at, but it is also something that lets her become happy as she encounters new challenges and gets new lessons.
“Siguro ganun talaga. Sometimes, healing comes in the simplest and most unexpected ways,” she said.
“Maybe I didn’t choose this path with certainty. Maybe I was simply led here. And now, I’m starting to understand why. Thank You, Lord, for the guidance. I’m happy to be here,” Yasmien furthered.
Meanwhile, in a succeeding post, she clarified how law school became her healing ground.
She recalled the experiences her family went through in the past, specifically the bullying case involving her daughter, which pushed her distract her mind by finding something to do.
Yasmien also revealed that she and her daughter were hospitalized bdue to different reasons.
“Na-hospital ang anak ko dahil nag-a-anxiety na pala siya noon at may mga nangyayari na,” she said.
“Because of the overwhelming stress and worry, ako naman ang sumunod na nag-ER dahil nagkaroon ako ng matinding urticaria. I was breastfeeding at the time, kaya kinailangan ko ring itapon ang breast milk ko.”
After the December 2024 incident, her daughter underwent therapy for six months to regain her confidence. At that time, she also stopped schooling and needed to complete the remainder of her school year in just 2 to 3 months.
“Ganun ka-traumatic yung pinagdaanan namin ng pamilya ko, lalo na’t kasabay pa noon ang postpartum period ko. Naalala ko ang bawat detalye ng trauma na pinagdaanan ng anak at pamilya ko sa school na iyon,” she continued.
Yasmien further noted that she did not mean there is no stress in law school. “Pero ibang klaseng stress ito. May choice ka naman kung mag-stay ka o hindi. It keeps my mind occupied, gives me purpose, and helps me focus on something positive instead of constantly reliving what happened,” she added.
