During his book launching event at the recent Manila International Book Fair (MIBF) 2026, GMA News and Public Affairs personality Howie Severino sat down for a chat with fellow I-Witness host Atom Araullo.

In their brief ten-minute-long conversation on stage, the two journalists tackled details about the Kapuso news pillar’s book People I Knew: And Some I Didn’t, But Wrote About Them Anyway, which is under the UST Publishing House.

Severino admitted that he felt “relief” after completing his book. “Relief… dahil mahabang proseso. I think lahat ng taong nakagawa ng libro ay alam ang feeling na gano’n, na para kang nanganak,” he added.

The renowned documentarist and former news anchor said that all people he featured in the book have already passed on and intends to use it to symbolize that these persons are not just “causes of sadness,” but they also brought joy and excitement to other people and the world when they were still around.

“Ang nag-motivate lang sa akin ay ang mga taong nagkaroon ng epekto sa akin, yumao sila, at gusto ko silang maalala,” he said.

Among the people he knew is the late TV and radio anchor Mike Enriquez, who Howie remembered as his companion before the start of the Iraq War in 2003.
