It is part of her upcoming extended play.
On Friday, September 4 (Manila time), Thai K-pop star Lisa, a member of the popular girl group Blackpink, unveiled the first track from her upcoming mini-album entitled Press Play, which is under her label LLOUD and RCA Records.
With the title SaWaDiKa, the song connects with the 29-year-old’s roots as it translates to the world “hello” in Thai—which also relates to the billboards that displayed the English word and other languages in different parts of the globe.
Accompanying the song is a music video that runs for three minutes and seven seconds, which includes scenes that were shot in Thailand. As oft his writing, it is already fast approaching 50 million views on streaming platform YouTube.
Meanwhile, Press Play is set to be released on October 23, with other tracks set to be announced in the coming days.
Lisa debuted in 2016 as part of the third-generation K-pop group Blackpink, along with fellow members Jennie, Rosé, and Jisoo.
They became well-known in their home country and abroad, thanks to their successive hit songs Whistle, Boombayah, Playing with Fire, As If It’s Your Last, Ddu-du Ddu-du, Kill This Love, Lovesick Girls, Pink Venom, and I , among many others.
The Thai K-pop star then launched her solo career in 2021, releasing hit songs Money and the namesake single of her debut extended play, Lalisa.
In 2024, she formally established her own agency LLOUD and through which she dropped the singles Rockstar, New Woman, and Moonlit Floor. That eventually culminated with the release of the album Alter Ego in early 2025.
She would also make her way to acting and launching it through her role as Mook in The White Lotus Season 3. She is also confirmed to star in Netflix’s Tygo, an untitled Notting Hill-inspired rom-com film.
Later in the year, she will also be the first K-pop artist to hold a Las Vegas residency, with her four-show VIVA LA LISA run at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace this November.
