The actor has set the record straight.
In a sit-down interview with showbiz reporter Ogie Diaz, actor Elijah Canlas set the record straight about the status of his relationship with actress and Eat Bulaga host Miles Ocampo.
Bluntly asked by host regarding the rumors surrounding their supposed second break-up, the actor responded by first saying that he had been trying to keep it a private matter, but is confirming the news as the public due to speculations spreading online.
“Opo, totoo siya (break-up) and out of respect for Miles, s’yempre, I’ll always have love for her, kailangan sabihin lang din para wala na ang mga speculations na makakapagpalala pa sa pinagdaraanan namin,” he confirmed the news.
Elijah, who had been with the actress for five years, also noted that the painful part of their break-up was how they thought it would last, especially when they were able to get back together after their first break-up.
“We got back together thinking this is it, but yeah, that is what happens with relationships. Binigay namin lahat,” he replied.
The actor also furthered by saying that they broke broke up “mutually and very amicably” and that there is no hate, at least on his part.
“Masakit ‘yung gano’ng klase na mutual na (break-up), wala naman talagang problema, pero na-realize n’yo lang talaga na hindi match,” he hinted on the reason behind the split.
He also appealed to the public to stop speculating about their relationship and let them heal first.
Meanwhile, on still being friends with Miles, he told, “We broke up amicably, yes, but we were together five years and it’s not easy to jump back to being friends.”
Although, he clarified that he remains open to it and added that his love for Miles will always be there as she is a “great person.”
Elijah also denied allegations of him cheating during his relationship. “It’s not true. Miles would know, it’s not true,” he stated, emphasizing that there is no third party involved in their break-up.
On being spotted with singer Thea Astley in La Union, Elijah clarified that they are friends and they were together with other members of their group and the video was taken during their trip.
It was back in 2021 when Miles and Elijah starred together in the series Paano Ang Pangako? on TV5. They would later confirm their relationship in May 2022 and broke up in 2023, before reuniting a year later.
