With these developments collectively adding 70,000 square meters gross floor area to its regional retail portfolio in the fourth quarter of 2026.
According to a disclosure by retail giant SM Prime Holdings, Inc. (SM Prime), three of its malls located in three provinces will be expanded to introduce a broader mix of retail, dining, entertainment and commercial offerings, on top of brands and concepts debuting in these markets.
The largest of the three projects is the SM City Iloilo North Block, which will add approximately 35,000 square meters of gross floor area as part of a mixed-use development.
It told that the expansion will provide more accessible covered multi-level parking, new ground-floor retail spaces for essential services, medical and wellness services, specialty stores, convenience store, and cafe.
The new development will also see the construction of a National University (NU) campus, further expanding the institution’s nationwide presence.
Meanwhile, SM City Sto. Tomas in Batangas will add more than 26,000 square meters through the construction of a third level Tha will house amusement concepts, restaurants, wellness establishments and retail stores.
Furthermore, a dedicated Trade Hall, co-working and meeting spaces and visual installations will also be on the third level, with additional surface parking to be developed to support the mall’s increased capacity.
SM City Naga in Naga City will undergo a two-storey expansion covering approximately 9,000 square meters, integrating additional parking and roof deck extension and redeveloping existing tenant areas to improve circulation and the overall customer experience.
Meanwhile, as part of its SM Prime’s sustainability commitments, the three expansions will feature energy- and water-efficient systems, solar panels, EV charging stations and enhanced waste management facilities to reduce resource use across their operations, SM disclosed.
“The cities of Iloilo, Sto. Tomas and Naga are major economic hubs in their respective regions, with strong potential to attract more businesses and investment,” said SM Prime President Jeffrey Lim in a statement. “Through these mall expansions, we aim to support their continued growth by creating more opportunities for MSMEs, generating local employment and contributing to stronger communities.”
