The show promises several twists and turns as an ordinary woman in her seventies goes out to avenge her grandson.
On Wednesday, August 26, streaming platform Netflix announced the production of a new “action noir” series that has assembled some of Korea’s finest actors and will be directed by A Shop For Killers’ Lee Kwon.
Under the working title The Shooter, the new series will be top-billed by Lee Jung-eun, Kim Moo-yul, and Huh Joon-ho, together with Choi Sung-eun, Bae Na-ra, Seo Hyun-woo, and Moon Jong-won.
According to the premise they disclosed, it follows Jeong Suk-ja (Lee Jung-eun) who raised her grandson on her own while working at a restaurant.
However, her life will be upended when her grandson was left fighting for his life after a brutal attack by unidentified assailants. Thus, to avenge her grandson, she picks up a gun for the first time since her youth and uncovers secrets of a powerful conglomerate that doubles as a criminal organization.
She will then enter into an unlikely partnership with Seo Yeon-woo (Kim Moo-yeol), who is the mastermind behind the revenge plot and is armed with a “wealth of information and sharp judgment.”
“While visiting Suk-ja in the depths of her grief and rage, Yeon-woo reveals that her grandson’s accident is connected to Chunghwa Group, awakening her instinct to hunt down the truth,” the platform shared.
Through this project, Moo-yeol is also reunited with Jung-eun, who was his co-star in Juvenile Justice.
Huh Joon-ho, meanwhile, will play Jang Kwang-cheol, the former leader of the Heukseong Gang and now chairman of Chunghwa Group.
Also part of the cast are Choi Sung-eun who plays Shin Ji-hyun, head of Chunghwa Group’s China office and director of Operations Unit 3; Bae Na-ra as Cheon Tae-seok, assistant to the chairman of Chunghwa Group and director of Operations Unit 2; and Seo Hyun-woo as Yoo Il-koo, the black sheep of Chunghwa Group and director of Operations Unit 4.
Moon Jong-won will also be playing Um Sang-pil, the owner of a bed-and-breakfast with a mysterious past.
Other details regarding the project, such as its premiere date, are still kept under wraps at the moment.
