A milestone for the online gap show of the hit noontime variety program.
This August, the digital program Showtime Online U, a companion program of ABS-CBN’s popular noontime variety program It’s Showtime is celebrating its 10th anniversary.
And to mark the occasion, the program recently held a special event at ABS-CBN’s Dolphy Theater in Quezon City, where the hosts were joined by “madlang onliners” for a day filled with fun activities and performances.
The anniversary celebration opened with a performance from SOU Squad, which comprises Wize Estabillo, AC Soriano, Nicki Morena, Lorraine Galvez, JM Dela Cerna, Marielle Montellano, Anthony Castillo, Anne Tenorio, Jannah Alanise, Mackie Empuerto, Eris Gonzaga, and Zeah Pala.
Nicki, who made her return to the country after living abroad for the past two years for this celebration, shared how she has experienced It’s Showtime from different perspectives.
She first joined as a contestant of the hit KalokaLike segment in 2013, before becoming a host of the Showtime Online U, and now, as an OFW-turned-viewer.
“Na-experience ko yung ‘Showtime’ from different sides—bilang contestant, host, at OFW—kaya mas na-realize ko kung gaano ka-importante ang SOU para sa mga OFW na malayo sa Pilipinas,” she said.
For content creator AC Soriano, who joined the digital show in 2023, he said that it has helped make It’s Showtime more accessible to viewers wherever they may be.
“Para siyang bridge of happiness. Dati, sa TV mo lang aabangan ng alas-dose, pero ngayon kahit nasa MRT ka o nasa abroad bilang OFW, pwede mo nang mapanood ang ‘It’s Showtime,’” said the “Multidogshow Diva.”
Showtime Online U, originally known as Showtime Online, has been part of the live streaming of the Kapamilya noontime show since 2016.
Originally hosted by a mix of co-hosts from members of the former mainstay groups Hashtags and GirlTrends, the program would be reformatted in 2020 to its current format.
Since August 2020, it is also seen from Monday to Saturday on the Kapamilya Online Live web-based channel, serving as the intermediary program during commercial breaks.
This year, its parent show It’s Showtime will also celebrate its 17th anniversary, with ABS-CBN noting in a statement that the much-awaited Magpasikat segment will also return.
Showtime Online U streams from 11:45 am on It’s Showtime’s YouTube channels and Facebook page and is seen every commercial break on Kapamilya Online Live via the ABS-CBN Entertainment YouTube channel and Facebook page.
It’s Showtime airs from 12:00 noon on those platforms, alongside TV and streaming channels like the ABS-CBN sa ALLTV2, GMA and A2Z on free TV, Kapamilya Channel on cable and satellite, TFC and GMA Pinoy TV for viewers abroad, Kapuso Stream and iWant.
