It promises to deliver a fresh and powerful period action drama.
On Thursday, August 13, streaming giant Netflix officially announced the production and cast of its new period action drama film that bears the working title Dochabi.
The star-studded project will be led by Lee Joon Gi, Kim Do Hoon, Jun Jong Seo, Lee Sang Yi, and Bae In Hyuk.
The movie is under the direction of An Tae Jin, who is behind The Night Owl, while Anarchist from Colony, and The King’s Warden writer Hwang Sung Gu is also on board.
The said title is the native Korean word for dokkaebi, the Korean goblin, and its story will revolve around Tae-san (Kim Do Hoon), a former soldier who lives in hiding deep in the mountains with a Jurchen woman named Ahai (Jun Jong Seo) near the borderlands where farmers have formed settlements.
Tae-san is entangled in a mysterious conspiracy by masked figures and is framed as the invaders’ ringleader. “Amid desperation, he survives like a monster and fights like a ghost, eventually becoming the ‘Dochabi’ that protects people,” the description further read.
Meanwhile, she will bring her superior agility and martial prowess in her fights alongside him.
the commander of the border region, Yi Do-gwan (Lee Joon Gi), who has a deep hunger for power, will hunt these famers.
Meanwhile, Park Se-ryong (Lee Joon Gi) is an inspector investigating rumors of masked figures appearing in the north, but harbors suspicion towards Yi Do-gwan.
The Crown Prince Yeolhwagun (Bae In Hyuk) will carry a deep sense of responsibility and compassion for the people suffering at the hands of invaders.
